Rosalie
Suffolk, VA
At 40+1, USA was playing Sweden and Savannah was set to be induced. I can remember is was pretty sunny that day and extremely hot!
Pitocin was started at 8am and a foley bulb was put in shortly after. Contractions were there, but not really consistent yet. Around 1:20pm, I receive a text that the foley bulb fell out and contractions were picking up. Since her first labor was fairly fast, I began thinking about heading her way (and was also keeping traffic in mind). We had planned on me leaving my house around 2pm, but something told me to just get on the road. As I’m driving, I get another text that Savannah had some strong contractions. So glad I already left! She was about a 6-7.
Contractions really pick up and are much more intense around 3:30pm. Andrew looks over at me and whispers “4:30pm” with a little smile. At 4:15pm, USA scored. At 4:17pm, Savannah was complete, the Pitocin was stopped, and water was intact.
Rosalie entered the world at 4:53pm on June 20, 2019.
I am always so grateful when I’m invited in to a birth space. It’s such a special and intimate moment. I feel so honored (and lucky) when I’m asked to document a birth.
